Winery Introduction
The current owners of Oba's estate are the famous Villars family in Bordeaux. Claire Villars is currently in charge of the estate. Maybe because of the relationship between the female owners, the style of the wine often has a very mature berry, cassis and rich taste. The prefix "Haut" in the name of the manor indicates that this manor is located at the top of the highlands, near the highest point of the commune, and the word "Liberal" reveals the originator of the manor. The Ribeiros built this manor as their residence in the 18th century and named it after their own. They are both king's courtiers and wine merchants.
However, in the ensuing century, the manor suffered a dilemma due to diseases including vineyards, wars and economic depression. It was not until 1960 when Societe Civile Charreules, a company controlled by the famous Cruse family, bought the mansion that the dawn of hope began to emerge. In the next ten years, the vineyards adjacent to the Baudelgen in Aubazhuang slowly merged into the Pontet-Canet village belonging to the Cruz family. The new owner made a series of investments in the estate. They rebuilt the vineyards, established a winery and installed new equipment. In 1982, Oba Manor was also sold to Jacques Merlaut, who added the manor to the investment industry in the name of the Taillan Group. Oba Manor was run by Bernadette Villars in the 1980s and early 1990s. Since her death, all the estates of Oba Manor and Merlot have been transferred to her. Her daughter (Mello's granddaughter) Claire Villars.
